SMS Implementation

  • In the UK, iovox is considered a Tier 1 telecommunications provider. iovox can facilitate the sending of confirmatory text messages after a phone booking as it falls under the “legitimate interest” and “contractual necessity” provisions of the UK GDPR.
  • Since confirmations are not marketing messages, they are considered transactional and do not require prior opt-in consent.
  • As a guide, the SMS should only confirm the booking or cancelation unless explicit consent is obtained to send marketing messages.
  • Sender IDs can be branded (11 characters) but cannot receive replies. If replies are required, iovox would suggest the use of SMS enabled numbers which it can supply.
  • iovox handles SMS confirmation and delivery for large auto and real estate customers in the UK, and each customer fits within the Sender ID restriction controls established by the delivering telecom provider. No special registration required.
